Emobi Partners with Japan's Musashi to Deploy Advanced e-Axle Technology

In an operational move aimed at accelerating drivetrain reliability and performance within India’s rapidly growing electric vehicle sector, Bengaluru-based EV start-up Emobi Manufactury Private Limited has officially announced a major technological partnership with Japanese mobility technology giant **Musashi Seimitsu Industry Co., Ltd. ** Under this collaboration, Emobi’s upcoming electric two-wheeler model, the AKX, will be entirely powered by Musashi’s advanced e-Axle EV drive unit.
The move marks another critical milestone in the start-up’s overarching corporate strategy to build robust, performance-oriented electric mobility solutions optimized specifically for sub-continental operating environments. Notably, the AKX becomes the second vehicle platform in Emobi's commercial portfolio to integrate Musashi’s proprietary powertrain technologies, following the strategic launch of the Kyari electric scooter back in November 2025.
Next-Gen Powertrain Engineering & Performance Benchmarks
Musashi’s specialized e-Axle technology has been heavily engineered to combine the electric motor, power inverter, and reduction gearbox into a unified, high-efficiency, and compact drive configuration. By transferring decades of sophisticated engineering know-how gained from developing transmission systems for traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles, Musashi has successfully adapted its manufacturing expertise to high-stress electric mobility applications.
According to technical specifications released by the companies, the e-Axle unit is designed to maximize real-world riding dynamics under diverse urban driving conditions. The system guarantees exceptionally smooth acceleration from a complete standstill, superior pick-up torque response, and sustained acceleration throughput. Furthermore, the unit features a proprietary reduction gear mechanism explicitly optimized to minimize mechanical operation noise while simultaneously maintaining superior energy conversion efficiency levels. These performance benchmarks position the AKX to directly match or exceed the durability and power delivery characteristics of traditional petrol-powered scooters and motorcycles currently dominating the market.
